Name: Mike Wathen, aka MW, K.

Bio: Been playing the piano for 17 years, and with NCB for nearly 7. Started out with recitals and got into other styles in college, which is where I joined NCB. I’ve also played with other groups, ranging in styles from traditional jazz to electronic dance music. No style should be off-limits.

I grew up near the Nanjemoy Creek and it’s one of the few pure, peaceful areas left in Maryland. Wathfest was inspired as a way to say thanks to the community down there who we’ve done several benefits for. I love our dynamic style of playing, and we’ve spent the last few years improving our chops in other areas, including songwriting and vocals. I’m looking forward to what we cook up next.
