I started playing the trumpet in 4th grade. I met
Corey Mabry in 7th grade band and Steve Cavanaugh in 11th
Grade. Steve turned me on to the Doors, about the same time
I got into The Grateful Dead. I had my first peak musical
experience 10-11-94 at the USAir Arena during their
performance. I reached a new level of enlightenment with out
the aid of drugs or alcohol. I began playing bass guitar not
very long afterwards. I joined the Krucial Element (a Go-Go
group based in Temple Hills, Md) in the spring of 1999.
After a few years of that infectious go-go rhythm, I felt
like I needed something more, so I joined the then unnamed
Hard Work and Humility of this Moraine in 2001.
Then one fateful day in the winter of 2002 I received a
phone call. "Hi Phill I don't know if you remember me but my
name is Steve Cavanaugh......." Steve asked me to try out
with his ensemble. Not really being a drummer, I wasn't sure
if I would be able to hold my end down. So one cold January
evening I made my way down to the Mabry estate in beautiful
Pomfret, Md. After setting up my kit, Steve said OK guys
lets jam, and the rest as they say is history. |
